Robomow is battery powered. No gas or oil is used and no smoke is generated. Air pollution from cutting grass for an hour with a typical gasoline-powered lawn mower is similar to that from a 100-mile automobile ride.
Energy saver
Robomow mows the lawn using considerable less power than conventional mowers and saves the need for refuse collections trucks to haul lawn clippings to landfills.
Grasscycling
Robomow is a dedicated grasscycling machine. The specially-designed mulching deck and blades cause the clippings to remain in the mowing chamber longer, getting cut and re-cut several times into very small clippings before falling back to the soil. The small clippings are buried in the roots of the lawn, where they decompose and act like a natural fertilizer. Grass clippings contain 80-85% water and release valuable nutrients that return back into the soil. It is the natural recycling of grass. Easy one-time setup
Robomow requires an easy one-time setup which can be completed by the consumer himself/herself after thoroughly reading the Operating & Safety Manual. A standard wire is laid around the outer edges of the lawn, and can be simply attached to the surface of the lawn with pegs or buried just under the surface. A supply of wire and pegs is supplied in the box with each Robomow package. The wire is connected to a Base Station (for fully automatic operation) or to a small battery powered current source called a Perimeter Switch. When pegged, the wire will typically become unnoticeable in a matter of 2 to 3 weeks. Robomow recognizes the wire using special sensors and uses the signal to orient itself within the lawn during operation.
Weekly program
The RL1000 and RM400 models include a Base Station and provide the ultimate solution for lawn maintenance. After completing the one-time setup and setting a weekly program, Robomow will automatically depart and initiate operation at the day and time scheduled! When the job is complete, it will automatically return to the Base Station to recharge and get ready for the next scheduled operation. The weekly program can be changed at any time. When the lawn is growing faster, the user may wish to set the program to operate more frequently. The lawn will never over-grow and will look as if it was just cut- every day! In addition to the fully automated mode, the RL1000 and RM400 can also be activated by pressing the GO button as with the RL850 and RM200.
Completely programmable
As you get to know your Robomow, you will learn that you can set much more than just a weekly program (depending on model). The engineering that has gone into the Robomow product line is quite amazing. The myriad of user settings and preferences available include options to turn the rain sensor on/off, set operating time for specific zones, adjust the scan width, activate the child guard or anti theft system, turn the sound on/off, and much more. You can teach the Robomow to use specific entry points along the perimeter when beginning the scanning process (Base Station zones only). There is also an information menu from which you can check the operating temperatures, the run time for the last operation, the charging voltage, etc. Your Robomow can even remind you when your blades need to be replaced.

Whether you use a Base Station and set a weekly program, or manually drive your Robomow to the appropriate zone (which is connected to a Perimeter Switch) and press the GO button, you can now mow whenever and as often as you like!

Rain sensor
RL1000, RM400 and RM200 models are equipped with a rain sensor to prevent mowing overly wet grass. The rain sensor feature enables Robomow to detect rain and skip or stop the operation as it is detected. Users may turn the rain sensor feature off if they want Robomow to continue working even when it rains.
Illuminated display
For improved user convenience, the display of the LCD on all Robomow models are illuminated, enabling reading in darkness.
Charging
While in storage, the unit is connected to a power supply to recharge its batteries. Recharging time varies from up to 20 hours (depending on the model) using the Base Station or Indoor Power Supply to approximately 6 hours using the optional External Fast Charger so it is ready to operate again the next day.
